Crypto securities register

A crypto securities register is a register based on DLT technology for electronic securities as defined in the German Electronic Securities Act (Gesetz über elektronische Wertpapiere, eWpG). The Electronic Securities Act (eWpG) created a new financial service referred to as crypto securities registrar services.

Traditional vs. electronic securities

Traditional securities differ from electronic securities primarily in terms of custody. While certificated securities must be physically deposited with a central securities depository as a global certificate or collectible certificate, electronic securities, such as crypto securities, crypto fund units or crypto stocks, can be held in a crypto securities register.

It is also possible to hold central register securities, crypto fund units, and crypto stocks in a central register. The legal effect of electronic securities is identical to that of traditional securities.
